As I have already told you in my post yesterday, I deal with the mentally challenged community. These individuals have an excuse to act the way they do. Individuals in the general population do not have an excuse. I am going to vent now. I cannot stand stupid people. For example, someone calls my home phone (yes, they still do exist) and asks the question, "Where you at?" Ummm, ok didn't you call my HOME phone. Another example would be social networking sites. Everyone is required to create a "profile" that contains general information about the individual. However, people still ask questions like "what do you like to do for fun or what is your favorite type of music?" People ask questions that can be answered with a few clicks and scrolls of the mouse. Is reading not a requirement on social networking sites? Grrrrr.... As Ron White would say, "You can't fix stupid."

Life of a Professional Caregiver

Everyday seems to meld with the previous in my line of work. Providing round the clock service to the mentally challenged community will burn a person out. A job that requires precise patience while making decisions that affect a variety of lives. I look back on today and try to envision what I could have done differently to make the process run more smoothly, only to that no one person can predict the possible courses the day will wander upon. It just seems like a broken record, repeating the same things day in and day out. However, the smiles upon the faces of members of the mentally challenged community are what makes this profession worthwhile. It is the little moments in life that make it worth living day to day.
